Sorry it has been so long since I last posted....

Things have been pretty crazy around here. Plus we have been busy enjoying our summer...while it lasts! So here is an update on all of us:

Hayden is doing great! He has really turned into a lil boy...no longer my li baby! :( He is doing so well in speech therapy...he has a vocabulary of probably around 100+ words...I lost count at 70. His imagination just cracks us up and we love seeing him pretend play...he likes pretending he is an excavator, a dog, and a sheep....Yes, a sheep...you read that right! LOL He is of course pushing and testing the limits...but hey he is 2 and that is what they are supposed to do right?!?!

Here are some pics of the lil guy from our trip to this awesome place called Davis' Farmland down in MA and a pic of him sleeping...yes, sleeping...in the excavator. Now that is love for heavy machinery!!! :) lol

Parker is gettting soooooo big!!! At his 6 month appt he was 19lb, 6oz. He is now almost 8 months old so I can't even begin to imagine how big he is now! He is sitting up all on his own now, crawling (mostly army crawl), and of course we are in teething Hell!!! I will post a pic so that you all can see how bad it is! It is crazy that this child still hasn't gotten any teeth yet! He is eating food now....Oooops did I just say food out loud. Crap he might hear me and want to eat now! lol The kid is an eating machine!!! His reflux is so much better and he is off his reflux medication now for quite a while. And he is such a happy baby!!!! So much better from when he was a newborn...he is so laid back! He is such a joy!!!

Here are some pics of Parker with bubbles on his head ala his brother! And you can see those teeth trying to come through. :o

The two boys love playing with eachother and hate playing with eachother....such is brotherhood!!! ;) We have also been going to a lot of playgroups. I joined a couple of SAHM playgroups in the area and we have been keeping busy getting together with them and with our friend Lee-Ann and her twins, Alex and Grace.

Casey is still working like crazy right now...keep the work coming!!! He just came back from a weekend in Maine visiting Grandpa Veary with his brother and Dad. They got around 10 fish and I got them all because they apparently just fish for the sport and none of them like brook trout. So hey...more for me! Yummmmm!!!

As for me....well a lot has happened since the last time I posted. Well, a lot has been going on with my health. I apparently had a case of post partum depression from having Parker (to be totally honest I don't know if I ever got rid of it from Hayden...I had it really bad with him and never seeked help). I just hadn't been feeling like myself and had absolutely no energy and wasn't thinking PPD but apparently it isn't always sitting in the corner crying like a crazy woman. lol Parker also apparently gave me acid reflux so now I am on meds for that. I feel like a friggin walking pharmacy!!! I am now also lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive. Man I sound like a wreck don't I?!?!?! Anyway, I am feeling so much better now and I have started 2 new jobs!!! I have started my own business as a Independent Silpada Designs Representative (check out my website
http://www.mysilpada.com/tiffany.veary ) and I am also training to get my CDL and school bus certificate so that I can drive a school bus for the Goffstown School District. It will be great because I will earn extra money for our family and I can bring the boys with me and it will all work with their school calender when they are older. I figure they grow up way to fast to miss out on any of it. I can have a more professional job after my most important job has been done (not that being a Mom will ever be done lol)! I am also going to be getting my Notary so that I can start notarizing paper work for Casey's company when they need it. So a lot of changes have happened....told ya! :)

Hayden reading up on his driving practices and regulations! lol

And for good measure a pic of Casey and I at our friends wedding back in June.

So I guess that is it for now :)

Life with Parker is getting easier :)

Parker really seems to be settling in to this family...finally!

It is amazing how much he has changed this week. He isn't crying nearly as much and if he does it is for a reason (ie...hungry, diaper needs changing, etc.). He laughs and smiles all the time now...and it just melts my heart. I love gummy lil baby smiles!!! The last two nights he started sleeping in later (woo hoo!!!)...instead of waking up at 2am he is waking at 4am. His reflux really seems to be under control now and that makes life much easier. He also has been falling asleep on his own. When he gets tired you can just put him down and he will fall asleep.

So there is another update on the lil man :)

The Pediatrician's office pissed me off for the last time!!!

I called them because Parker is still having some major issues with his reflux. It is like a viciouis circle that never ends.

He is on soy formula (he is also lactose intolerant ) and we were putting rice cereal in it because it was helping keep the formula in his stomach. Now when I say "helping" I mean it was helping...it didn't solve the problem. He went in for another follow up last 2.5 weeks ago and they upped his Pepcid dosage to 1ml. If anything it has made him worse. He has been spitting up more and just more cranky...which I also think is correlated to him being constipated. Speaking of constipation...the cereal makes him severely constipated. So I decided about a week after going to the follow up appt. to stop the cereal completely. They had suggested doing the cereal every other bottle to help with the constipation...tried it and it didn't do anything. The only thing that helps him have a bm is by putting a thermometer up his bum to help stimulate him to go...but he is still in pain everyday trying to push out the rock hard poop (I know...TMI). So anyway, I stop his cereal and now we have a whole new problem...actually old problem...we are back to the way it was before he was on cereal. More spitting up and regurgitating and swallowing it back down and the cluster/over eating. So...I called the pediatricians office and instead of booking him an appt. they have the nurse call me back. Why? not sure...they should have just scheduled me an appt since it is something he is currently being seen for. So the nurse calls back and says that she wants me to put him back on the cereal every other feeding and to give him 2 oz of either apple or pear juice in with his formula once a day and if that doesn't do it to buy some pediatric stool softener suppositories and cut them in half lengthwise and give that to him once a day. Try all of this for 3 days and if I don't notice a difference than to call back and they will book him an appt. She also believes that most of his issues are stemming from the constipation. So let me get this right??? You want me to give him Pepcid...that doesn't even seem to be doing sh*t for him and then give him cereal because the Pepcid isn't doing its job and then give him pear/apple juice and suppositories to counteract what the cereal is doing to him??? So lets give him one thing and then another thing to counteract that and another thing to counteract that.....WTF?? That just doesn't sound right to me...am I the only one??? Or am I just crazy??? I just want him to feel better and to not be miserable!

So I was already researching new offices to bring them too (I have been unhappy with that office since Hayden was a baby and before we had Parker and was planning on switching after Parker was born) and I had found one last week but figured I would wait till Parker had his 2 month check up at the beginning of March. Well, I called them and they are getting him right in. One of my biggest gripes about the old office is that they are sooooooo huge the boys never see the same doc so no one knows exactly what the hell is going on. Also, I called to schedule Hayden's 2 year appt and asked if I could do Parkers 4 month at the same time...nope..sorry we don't book physicals together. Ughhhhhhhh!!! Plus they aren't real close to home so the new one is only 10-15 mins away and they are a family practice so now all 4 of us are going to see the same doc. Casey didn't like the place he was going to and for me I liked my doctor...so it wasn't that big of a deal to me, but for Casey and I we don't see dr's as often as the boys do and so that is what is important. I want them to get a relationship with their pedi and vice a versa. I would like the doc to be able to remember them when he sees them.

So he went to the appt. the next day and he is great! He is very laid back...he was wearing jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers that day. At one point I was very impressed when he said that most dr's have a God complex and think that just because they have been a dr for 20 years they know everything...he said he is not like that and I would know my child better than anyone else. Most dr's I have ever delt with think they know you child better than you...I think this guy is going to be great! He said that obviously the Pepcid wasn't doing anything and that obviously it wasn't because I even said that it wasn't doing anything. So he said to stop it...he also said that there is a good percentage of babies that it doesn't work on. He said that usually just working with thickening the formula with cereal and giving him some juice each day should help with the spitting up and regurgitating and swallowing it back down and the juice will help him from getting constipated. So we stopped the Pepcid and I started adding more cereal to his bottles (he was getting almost 2 tsp. before and now he is getting 1tbls) and I am giving him juice everyday. He said to start with 1oz of juice and it should help, but if it didn't that it isn't a science just to bump him up one more oz a day. So he gets one ounce in the morning, noon and at night and it seems to be working (one oz wasn't working so I already bumped him up to three oz.). He seems to be happier. And speaking of happy...this child cracks me up when he laughs...it is just the cutest thing! He loves it when you talk or sing to him...he is just in stitches!!!

Parker 6 weeks later :)

Here is Parker in the hospital the day we were leaving at 1-1/2 days old....

Here is Parker (a very pissed off Parker :) ) 6 weeks later in the same outfit...he fills it out just a lil bit better LOL....

And a few bonus shots of my other boys :)

Parker Andrew's Baptism

Well, Parker was baptised yesterday and it went great. Both of the boys were great in church and the party afterward went great.

Here are a few pics from the batism. It was held at St. Lawrence church and his godparents are Magda and J. Jay (his aunt and uncle).

Another update on Parker...

Well, he had another appt last Tuesday and they up'd his Pepcid (the medication for his reflux) and if anything it seems to have made it worse :( I was going to wait till his 2 month appt which is in about 2 weeks, but he just seems miserable so I am going to call and see if I am can get him in this week. I am also going to call around for a new pediatrician for the boys because I really can't stand the office that they go to. Wish us luck!!!

Oh yeah and he was 11 lbs and 10 oz at his appt...he was 5-1/2 weeks old.

weighing 7lbs 14oz
and measuring 20 3/4 inches long

and we only stayed for 1 and 1/2 days because I was feeling really good and was getting so stir crazy and just wanted to get home to my lil Hayden.

Parker Andrew's Birth Story

So here is how things went with the birth of our newest addition...Parker Andrew. :) (it is very long)

I would like to begin saying that I had a wonderful pg. No complications except the docs thought I might have high fluid levels (because I was measuring big) which turned out to be the opposite and I was borderline low at one point, but then my fluid levels came back up. I had no m/s, felt great (of course up until the end ;) ) and loved every moment of my pg. My EDD was 1/5/07.

1/4/07:

9:00am~ I go to my 40 week appt (I am actually 39w and 6d pg) with Dr. S. The appt went well. My BP seems to be a bit elevated compared to my normal, but nothing to worry about. I tell the doc about how 2 nights before I really thought it was going to be "the night" because I had had contractions from 3:00pm till 9:20pm, but they just wouldn't regulate...they would be regular and close for about an hour and then space back out again. Then the doc tells me the good news....I am 4-5 cms dialated and the next time I have regular contractions like that that I need to go to the hospital. So I ask how close they need to be and he says that if they are 5-7 mins apart to call and tell them he said that I need to go in and he said that I will definitely be having a baby soon. I was very very very happy. As I am getting in my vehicle to leave I notice that my OB (Dr. B. is in scrubs and walking to her vehicle so I assume that she is on call and hope that I go into labor while she is on call. She is really great and laid back and she also delivered Hayden.)

11:00am~ I go on to my message board and talk to all my Mommy friends and start asking a million questions on how I can get my labor/contractions going :)

1:30pm~ Hayden (almost 21 months old) is napping so I decide that I am going to start with the easiest thing to get my labor started and go from there. So I start cleaning the playroom....which is a total disaster area and required alot of bending, squatting, and getting up and down off the floor.

2:30pm~ Hayden wakes up a half an hour early from his nap, but thankfully I am pretty much done cleaning. So I let him out of his room and sit down with him on the couch to have a snack and drink.

4:03pm~ I have a contraction!!!

4:09pm~ I have another contraction!!!

At that point they continued every 5-7 mins....which I find funny because that is what the doc had said earlier in the morning at my appt.

4:50pm~ I call Casey to tell him that I had been having contractions every 5-7 mins and this might be it.

5:00pm~ I have another contraction and I say to myself that if have one more contraction that I am going to call the on-call OB.

5:15pm~ Still haven't called the on-call OB and still saying after each contraction "if I have one more contraction I am going to call the on-call OB"

5:22pm~ I have a contraction and after it is done I finally call the on-call OB.

5:25pm~ They call back and say whenever you are ready come on in...so I call Casey back and tell him what they said and he asks if he has time to go to the mechanic to pick up his brother….I told him he did because I still had to finish packing my bag and do a few other things before we leave, but I also told him to make it quick (the mechanic isn’t far from our house). I then call my Mom and she is about 15-20 mins away (on her way home from work) so she comes straight here. She gets here before Casey does and she can’t believe that I am in labor because I am walking around the house doing last minute stuff before we leave.

6:25pm~ We finally leave and Hayden cries for a bit as we are walking out the door…breaks my heart :(

6:35~ Stop at Wendy’s LOL (it is on the way to the hospital) because Casey hadn’t eaten all day (men!!!)

6:40pm~ Arrive at hospital and sit in vehicle until the next contraction comes so I don’t have one while walking in. And when the contraction comes it is a doozy…so we head right up.

6:45pm~ Get up to L&D and the nurse does all my admitting stuff on the computers. She also tells me that the doc was just finishing a c-section and had one more to do…so she wouldn’t be in to see me for a while….no biggie because I knew nothing would really progress until my water was broken. She also tells me that Dr. B said that there is no chance that I am going back home (eventhough she still hadn’t seen me yet) because she likes me too much and she really wants to deliver my lil guy (her lil boys name is also Parker and she had him about 3 months after I had Hayden and she just thinks it is awesome that I am also having a Parker) so of course I think that is fantastic :D

Until I see Dr. B I have a lil dinner because I didn’t want Wendy’s when we stopped there and I wasn’t hungry and I forgot to eat before we left the house (not that there was a lot to choose from in our cupboards that would have been quick), Casey went downstairs to get a doughnut and coffee coolatta at Dunkin Donuts (yes there is one right in the hospital :) ), and then we went for a walk.

8:45pm~ The nurse comes in (btw…she is totally awesome….we are cracking jokes with her all night long) and says that Dr. B was finally getting out of the c-section so that not to go anywhere because she would be in soon to check me and break my water.

9:05pm~ Dr. B finally comes in to see me!!! And I am 5cm, 0 station and 70% effaced. She then breaks my water. I then find out that earlier that morning the baby was only at -2 station so he had definetly dropped…so things are looking good. They have to monitor me and the baby for about 20 mins after and then if I want I can walk, go in the tub, or just stay in bed if I want.

9:30~ I decide that I want to get in the tub so the nurse gets it ready for me. I get in and it feels fantastic…especially the jets!!!!!!!!!!

10:00pm~ My ass is really starting to hurt from sitting in the tub so I decide to get out for a bit and lay in bed on my side. I have a hard time at first getting comfy and notice that out of the water the contractions definitely feel different.

10:20pm~ All of a sudden I have a contraction that I am having a real rough time with…so the nurse checks me and I am now 6cm dialated.

10:40pm~ I can’t take the contractions anymore so I decide to get an epidural. They have to start an IV and get half of the bag of fluids into me before I can get it and that takes about 20 mins before the epi man comes up to see me.

11:00pm~ Get my epi and starting to feel much much better. Get a catheter because after a full bag of fluids I really have to pee, but can’t because I just got the epi. She checks me again and I am 7cm.

11:30pm~ All of a sudden it feels like the epi is wearing off and I try to give myself an extra dose on the pump and the beep that you are supposed to hear when you push the button….is non-existant. Casey looks at the pump and says “I think this thing is turned off…there is nothing on the screen.” I try to push the button again and no beep. Just then the nurse comes in and says that the machine isn’t on. We of course give her crap because we had been doing that to eachother all night :) So she turns it back on and pushes the button to give me an extra dose and it does nothing. So the epi man comes up and gives me a bolus shot and sticks around for a bit to make sure it is working. It hadn’t fully kicked in until I gave my self one more dose on the pump and then I was feeling good again.

11:45pm~ The nurse checks me again and I am almost 8cm. Dr. B comes back in and says that eventhough I am that far along my contractions are still only 4-5 mins apart and they need them to be closer for when I start pushing because otherwise I will be pushing forever. She said to keep an eye on them and if my 1:00am they weren’t progressing that we should start some pitocin and that for me I won’t need much after seeing what pitocin did to me with Hayden.

1/5/07 (My due date):

12:45am~ My contractions are still 4-5 mins apart and I am still almost 8cm. So the nurse and I decide that it would be best and just get the pitocin started.

1:00am~ The pitocin is started.

1:32am~ I have a contraction that makes me feel like I am going to come right up out of the bed and I have a huge urge to push.

1:35am~ I have another one and the nurse happened to come in so she checks me and says that I am finally 10cm and the baby’s head is WAY low.

1:37am~ She has me push through a contraction and I can feel his head move way down. So she immediately called Dr. B and told her to come right away because it wasn’t going to be long.

I continue to push through another contraction or two and Dr. B comes in and gets her gown and gloves on. When she is finally all done getting everything on I push again and I can feel his head sticking halfway out. The next contraction I can feel his head come out more.

1:50am~ I finally push lil Parker Andrew out into this world and it is awesome!!! They put him right up on me and he is doing great! She did have a bit of a hard time getting his shoulders out, but with a lil tugging she got them out.

The nurses and doc started guessing his weight and think he will be between 7lbs 4oz and 7lbs 6oz….they were wrong. He weighed in at 7lbs 14oz and is 20-3/4 inches long. He scored 9/9 on his Apgar.

For me motherhood is totally different the second time around. I suffered from severe PP Depression with Hayden and never felt that instant bond with him. It was instant with this lil guy. I am even recovering faster this time around. Casey is just smitten with his new lil guy and can’t wait for him to be bigger and see the two boys playing together. Hayden didn't pay too much attention to him the first week and a half and had jealousy moments, but I expected that from him.

Well, that is it….Thanks for reading!

Update on Parker

Well, things finally seem to be settling down here in the Veary household. 8 days ago Parker was diagnosed with GERD (or acid reflux) and they prescribed him Pepcid so take to help with it which unfortunately didn't seem to really help. So we switched him to a hypoallergenic formula (the milk proteins are already broken down so it is easier for them to digest) and it didn't help either. So we tried adding cereal to it and it seemed to help, so we decided to try switching him back to the regular formula with cereal added to it and nope...definetely didn't help...started spitting up again and getting fussy and cranky. So since we had figured out that the regular formula and the hypoallergenic formula weren't really doing the trick we decided to start him on soy formula with the rice cereal added to it and BINGO...I think we finally found the right mixture that works for him. The medication still needs to be tweaked a bit because it seems to wear off too soon and he ends up being cranky for about 2-3 hours every morning and evening. We have a follow up appt. on Tuesday so hopefully they can figure something out for the little guy. I did breast feed him for the first two weeks and even then I wondered if he was allergic to my breastmilk. I stopped because he was eating so much so even after 20-40 mins of feeding he would still take 1-2 oz of formula and because of this he was getting nipple confusion and starting to kill me. So I decided to stop...which didn't bother me too much because I wasn't even planning on breast feeding...I was just going to pump, but he latched right on so I decided to give it a go. Now I wonder if my first instinct was right and he was allergic to it. Oh well, as long as he is feeling better now. :)
